Frequently asked questions

Answering your most requested information

  • What is the first step to having an installation?
We will attend your premises to discuss your requirements and the style and type of gate you wish to have installed. We offer wooden, composite, steel and aluminium gates in a variety of designs. We will also assess how you want the gates to operate and what automation system will be best suited to the gates and your property. We will then take measurements and discuss how you would like to operate the gates. We offer a wide range of access controls and we will discuss all the available options with you. Based on the information gathered from our site, a free detailed quotation will be prepared of all the work involved - This will include the equipment to be used and related costs. If you choose to proceed with our offer, we will arrange an installation date at your convenience and inform you of the time it will take to install the gates and automation
  • Do I need planning permission?
We ask our customers to always check if planning permission is required before the gates are installed. You can check your local council website for this and obtain where applicable.
  • How long does it take to install domestic gates and automation?
This depends on the size of the gates, the choice of access controls and availability of the power source for the automation. It is usually between 1 and 3 days. Where a full installation is being undertaken, our preferred approach is to complete a first fix, usually one or two site days and second fix, usually one site day. The first fix includes installation of posts where necessary, all ground works and all cabling. On completion of the first fix, there will be no further disturbance to the ground and the customer is then able to undertake other work to the drive, as all ground works by ourselves have been completed. Having undertaken the first fix, we are able to ensure that all measurements and details for the gate are accurate and correct. It will be at this point your gate can be ordered. Between the first fix and second fix, the gates are manufactured. The time between the first and second fix is dependent on the type of gate chosen, but this is usually around four weeks. We are able to discuss this with you during your quote. We then attend site for a second fix when your gates are ready to install. Once your gate is installed we'll go through a full demonstration with you and answer any questions you have.
  • Can you automate existing gates?
This is dependent on the gates you have, but we are always happy to discuss the options avilable. Automating existing gates usually takes 1-2 days.
  • Do you provide servicing?
Yes, it is the responsibility of the gate owner to ensure their gates are serviced regularly, but we will also remind you when this is due. We provide an annual service which includes the provision of a full service report and force test results. We are also able to service gates we did not install, so please get in contact if you would like us to service your gates.
  • Do you offer gate repairs?
Yes, get i touch with us and we can arrange a call-out. We work across Yorkshire and will look at all installs (not just our own), to get you back up and running.
